The Prisoner of San Jose

SUGGESTED STORY IDEAS:

  • AMORC’S SEMI-ANONYMITY

Although AMORC has been fairly widely publicized over the years and has even gone through various legal battles, why has it not developed a public image as a cult? Since you appears to be the first book indicting AMORC’s practices and it has been around for decades, why have other dissatisfied members not stepped out before?

  • THE CLAIMS OF AMORC

In your book, you claim that AMORC indoctrinates its members with fantastic claims about his authority. What are those claims and how are they used to recruit members?

  • REMOTE INDOCTRINATION

Compared to the hands-on techniques of the Chinese Communists or the never-ending, fatigue-producing hands-on approach of the Moonies towards recruits, AMORC’s correspondence course and silly rituals at home, coupled with an occasional visit to a lodge, seems rather mild. How could this kind of remote indoctrination have such a powerful effect on members?

  • EVIDENCE FOR HISTORICAL CONNECTIONS TO ANCIENT ORDERS OF THE PAST

Surely members must question the veracity of the claim of AMORC that ties it to earlier Rosicrucian orders and to the rites of ancient Egypt. Is there any weighty evidence that proves that connection? If not, how do they get away with it? Is there any kind of evidence revealed later on in the course of studies that is at all challenging and meaningful to prove their case?

  • IMPLICATIONS OF REMOTE INDOCTRINATION

You make the point in the book that there might be political implications for remote indoctrination. Do you think political or commercial entities use remote indoctrination in their outreach to the public?

  • PSYCHIC POWERS

There has been a lot of purported evidence for psychic powers in parapsychological circles- ranging from clairvoyance to telekinesis (moving objects). Do you believe such powers exist and does AMORC actually train people to be able to accomplish such feats as telepathy or seeing auras?

  • CULTS AND POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS SYNDROME

Various anti-cult organizations and exponents have claimed that cult followers suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome? Do you suffer from or do you know anyone who has suffered from these types of symptoms as a result of their experience in AMORC?
