The Snow Lion: A Spiritual Journey

Author Ann Mitchell, JD, MA, LPC is the founder and director of Connections, an organization that provides psychotherapy and workshops to promote healing and transformation for individuals and families. Her international workshops are designed to enhance individual, family, and community peace.

Ann’s experience encompasses supervisory work with internationally known child psychiatrist, Dr. Foster W. Cline. She was the founder and executive director of Children First, Inc., a nonprofit healing center for children and families on the Tohono O’odham Nation, which combined Western and Native American healing practices.

Ann’s extensive professional education includes training in psychodrama and experiential therapy from Onsite Workshops, founded by Sharon Wegscheider-Cruse.

Ann is a consultant to Mirasol, Inc., an internationally renowned treatment center for eating disorders founded by Jeanne Rust. At Canyon Ranch Resort Ann conducts lectures on the mind-body connection to health.

Ann earned a master’s degree in marriage and family counseling with an emphasis on addictive disorders. She also hold a degree in law.

The Snow Lion is Ann’s first children’s book. The idea for the story arose from a very meaningful dream she had several years ago. Until the dream, Ann had not heard of a snow lion. A few years after the dream and before the book was to be published, Ann traveled to Dharamsala, India and was quite surprised to learn that the snow lion is a figure in Tibetan history and culture.

Illustrator Mano Sotelo has always had a passion for drawing and painting. His illustrations have been used in magazines, book covers, for corporate identity and product development. His work has also been exhibited in both juried and invitational shows. Mano worked for several years as a production manager and graphic designer within the graphic arts, printing and publishing industries.

Currently, he is an instructor at The Art Center Design College in Tucson, Arizona. Mano earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Otis Art Institute Parsons School of Design and a Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
