Soundings
William Charland is a former careers columnist in Denver and the author of six nonfiction books. Charland has provided hands-on career guidance and expertise to more than 1,000 clients and students in mid-life. He also has served as a corporate consultant on employment-related issues. Charland now lives in Silver City, New Mexico, where he serves as director of the honors program at Western New Mexico University.
The nonfiction and daily newspaper column work of William Charland has been recognized for its relevance to the current marketplace and distributed to a national audience. A nationally syndicated columnist named Charland’s The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Changing Careers as one of the top ten career books of 1998. Charland’s Life-Work: A Career Guide for Idealists was a top selling business-field book in Denver. His career column in the Denver daily newspaper the Rocky Mountain News - “Skills Update” - was distributed nationally by the Scripps Howard News Service.
